A Positive Campaign

I and others have already pointed out what a milestone this election was, and how excited we are that our guy actually won. But there was another victory in this election. It was an extraordinarily positive campaign. Though Hillary Clinton went very strongly negative against Obama, he held out as long as possible, and then only went negative on policy, not with wild false allegations. His response to disagreeing with Clinton's policies could barely be called negative.

Then McCain attacked him in the general election. In case you've forgotten, Cindy McCain launched a barrage of false attacks on Michelle Obama's patriotism, John McCain attacked Obama while Obama was overseas, McCain made up attacks on Obama for being elitist and a celebrity, he pretended that Obama called Palin a pig, he accused Obama of socialism when Obama a decade ago suggested compensation for slavery, he pretended Obama was in bed with the PLO and terrorists, and falsly accused Obama of being a socialist.

To top it all off, after McCain said he was going to take the high road that Hillary never did, and said the Reverend Wright was off the table, McCain started to talk about bringing Wright up again. Three days before the campagin, a 527 felt they had the go-ahead and launched despicable racist ads, focused on Jeremiah Wright and Obama, in a multi-state ad buy worth millions, that eventually went national. Without exagerrating, if you were watching CNN in the few days before the election, you saw this ad three times an hour, every hour. McCain's response? A tepid rebuke and pulling of the ad in South Carolina, and then not a single response afterward. He let it go forward.

And Obama's response to all of this? Not a single negative ad, for months and months. Only immediate press releases showing why the McCain campaign's allegations were false. And then, after repeated barrages of negative ads by McCain, Obama began to go negative in some commercials, but always on policy, and not on false allegations or allusions. At one point, Obama had more negative commercials (on policy) than anyone else in history, because he was spending more money in ads than anyone else in history- but only a third of his ads were negative. At the same time, 100% of McCain's ads were negative. Obama consistently refused to get into the gutter with his opponents.

Much finger-pointing will now occur, as to why McCain lost the race. There are many reasons, including Palin, not truly being a maverick and following his heart, letting bad advisors run a campaign, the economy, and Iraq. But top up there is that McCain insisted on not only a negative campaign, but one filled with lies. And as amazing as it is, unlike Kerry, Obama defended himself, and yet didn't respond back with despicable allegations, lies, and innuendo. And he still won the Presidency. Now that's a man I want as President.

'American Stories' catches like brushfire

Five days ago, when the American Stories half hour TV ad was due to be aired at 8 p.m., I planned my entire night around being in front of the TV to see it.

But somehow, a phone call from an old friend came and we were still in deep discussion an hour or so later and I forgot about the ad until I sat down around 9 p.m., and then a feeling of dread came over me as I surfed the channels looking for it, hoping I hadn't missed it, but indeed I had.

Trying to understand the sadness I felt, I hunted online at the different networks, thinking it might be on the website for MSNBC or CNN or others. I couldn't find it. I checked youtube, but didn't see it there. I checked barackobama.com, and there it was, and I watched it online, relieved and captivated, and suddenly all was right with the world, even if I could only view it in a 3"x4" window.

But here's the fascinating thing: after I watched it on the campaign's website, I went again to youtube and searched American Stories, rather than 'half hour Obama ad' or variations, which all brought up the wrong videos. And it popped up, with 202 viewers, this must have been around 9:30. And I watched it again. Two days later, I was telling a friend to watch it, and when I pulled it up on youtube, there had been around 745,000 viewers. Today, the number of viewers is 1,651,992, and counting.

And that just makes me ridiculously happy, because there's no way to view that infomercial and take away anything but goodness and optimism, and a deep respect for Barack Obama.

Hollywood composer Danny Elfman (famous for "The Simpsons" theme and scores to Tim Burton films) has produced a new ad for the last week of the presidential race revealing his greatest fear: a President Sarah Palin. Focusing on the possibility that John McCain might not even finish his first term as president if elected due to age and health concerns, Elfman eerily morphs a slow-motion image of McCain speaking into an image of Palin succeeding him. Here is the transcript.

"These are troubled times in a volatile world. With unprecedented crises at home and abroad, we need sound judgment and a steady hand to lead the most powerful nation on Earth. John McCain's age and continuing battle with cancer makes the liklihood of him not completing his term higher than any president in American history. President Sarah Palin. Think about it."

New Commercial to get Undecideds and Republicans?

This close to the election it is so very important to try to pull in every possible vote. There are so many Republicans and independents that are still on the fence and, though they disagree with the policies and politics of the Republican candidates, they still cannot bring themselves to vote Democratic. There is a tremendous ground game out there but these people, through experience, are likely to take offense to a Democrat showing up at their door or calling them during dinner. They can, however, be persuaded to vote "for the other side" if their privacy and pride are respected.

We attended a candidate's forum last night that at one point featured Will i Am's "Yes We Can" video. It is a powerful video based on an equally powerful speech. I propose an ad that gives the same message, but to those people who are traditionally Republican or lean Republican. This ad would be quick, easy and cheap to cut and it carries a positive message.

God I hope Obama doesn't blow his load on Oct 29th with this 30 minute TV ad.

I've seen some really impressive speeches by him. In fact that's the mark that really sold me.
His ability to speak, speak well, and influence with ideals not useless, hopeless rhetoric.

I'm afraid that it's going to be some prefab video montage of the campaign and himself (and Joe of course).

And not an Influential Inspiring Moving and Motivating speech which is key at not only swaying the hearts of those that need moving. But keeping the hearts that have already learned to love, keep loving.

Voters of base, independent and undecided need that final push to the voting booth, with the vigor of change that we so desperately desire.

new ad: McCain's mortgage plan

Based on the fluctuations of an individual's maturity and the unique events that shape each human's behavior, it is dangerous to assume that someone who was once 15 years old, still holds the same beliefs as they approach their 20s, or 50s. As you know, an individual's beliefs and priorities can change dramatically over the course of their life.

One thing to observe about John McCain, as seen again tonight at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, is his 'willingness' to spread false context about Obama without apology even with contempt; this is a grave telling sign of his current state of character. In addition, how he allows his running mate, Sarah Palin, to go around erratically swing falsehoods at Barack Obama without McCain’s responsible correction or intervening leadership. All of this should send a sober warning to the American public about McCain's judgment and how he plans to govern right now in 2008.

Instead of asserting sound evidence that supports his arguments in his campaign; McCain continues to choose the low road. The low road will get the American people nowhere fast and fuel the attitude of cynicism already express against America government. Consequently, Americans will lose out in the end. The American public need a consistent trustworthy voice that encourages individuals to take the road less traveled, and gives them straight context about the issues they face everyday; not guilt by association speeches and videos.

McCain’s present strategy is praying on the hope that Americans are not going to spend time researching political policy positions. Does McCain believe that the American public is too naive to discern between what is true and what is false? As McCain stated to one gentleman tonight, most Americans have near heard of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, right?

It wasn’t exactly in a favorable light, per se.

On NPR’s “Morning Edition” today, anchor Steve Inskeep asked Sen. John McCain about balancing honor and winning in a campaign that Inskeep called “brutal.” In their conversation, Inskeep asked about a particular ad that we found to be “false”:

Inskeep: Have you come back to your advisers at any point and said, “That ad,” like for example the ad that ran with your name on it saying that Barack Obama supported comprehensive sex education for primary school students, something that FactCheck.org said was wrong. Have you ever gone to your staff and said, “Take that ad off, it’s not right”?
McCain: It was factually correct. It’s absolutely factually correct. And it is, and you can go on my Web site and you can see the exact language of the bill that Sen. Obama sponsored. But the point is if he had agreed to town hall meetings that I asked him to do all around the country like Jack Kennedy and Barry Goldwater had once agreed to do, the tenor of this campaign would be dramatically different. … I’m proud of the campaign we’re running. The ads are factually correct, and if someone named FactCheck.org or anybody else doesn’t agree with it, I respectfully disagree with their conclusion.

For the record, Obama didn’t sponsor the bill, as McCain says. He wasn’t even a cosponsor. Yet the ad claimed that “Obama’s one accomplishment” in the realm of education was “legislation to teach ‘comprehensive sex education’ to kindergarteners.” That’s false. We pointed out several actual legislative accomplishments Obama has had in the area of education — bills he did sponsor or cosponsor.

Also, what Obama supported was “age-appropriate” sex ed for grades K-12, and that stipulation appears in the bill. The implication that he called for explicit sex ed for kindergarteners is also false. You can read the exact language of the bill from a link in our article on the ad as well.

The fact is, many of the ads from both camps have not been “factually correct.” If they were, our Web site would be empty.

We do appreciate the media mention, however.

I get it... you're presidential. Sober. Intelligent. What FDR might have looked like on TV during his fireside chats if only there had been TV.

But here's my fear - you're losing people's interest. I'm not sure saying you'll cut taxes and trickle down doesn't work for 2 minutes is more effective than the exact same 1 minute ad.

How about some zing? Something memorable? Or how about some positive images of what America could look like - a rising sun... people at work... windmills, solar panels, building bridges, kids at school. Please, please play on the America of the past vs. America of the future theme. There HAS to be something more creative you can do.

It's time to move on. Do something different. Show McCain's video pushing us into Iraq after 9/11 and his call to deregulate. Use HIS words against him. It's far more effective than you saying "McCain called for x or y."

Use some humor.

Right now you seem about as interesting as an economics teacher. The problem with sober is that people tune it out. The first direct address ad was fine. The second, fine. Now you've pushed the limit of that method. You don't want voters to tune you out. Speak to them in THEIR language for a little while.

McCain, "I don't know as much as I should about the economy."

When times are hard, American needs a leader who is about finding solutions, not about political gimmicks and photo ops. They need someone who understands the issues; not someone who supported the wrong policy for 26 years.

Proposed Moratorium

How about we request the candidates accept a moratorium on using the other candidates name in any future advertising or debates?

We are running out of time, and the majority of Americans do not have a clue as to the specifics of what either candidate plans to do on any key issues. They have both wasted our time for months and months now talking about what the other did or did not do in the past. NO MORE! GIVE US A BREAK!

In order to make an INFORMED decision, simply tell the voters EXACTLY what your plan is on the key issues. That's it. The End. It's as Simple as that.

For the last two days now, Obama has been running a refreshingly clear ad that does NOT mention McCain at all. Hallelujah! He simply states HIS position on an economic issue and directs you to the website for a full explanation - probably the most effective political ad yet. Exactly what the general public needs to see.

ad: McCain, the Gambler

"According to the New York Times, McCain has a gambling problem. No, it isn't because he goes to the casinos once a month.... It's because he's so heavily influenced by gambling lobbyists. After his erratic reaction to the economic crisis and his neglect of the middle class in the debate, can we really trust the "maverick" not to gamble away our future to the special interests?"

It also might be good to borrow from Sunday's Nicholas Kristoff op ed to play on the gambling theme:

"Judging from Mr. McCain’s own positions, he might well revive a cold war with Russia and could start a hot war with Iran or North Korea. In those three hot spots, Mr. McCain could constitute a dangerous gamble for this country."

It is worth challenging McCain's foreign policy on these issues in ads. The American people don't want another war.

Here's an idea for a campaign ad portraying John McCain as unfit and too risky to fix the economy:

these days you never know which john mccain you’ll get:

john mccain the maverick, or the one who voted with Bush 90% of the time?

the john mccain who says he’ll cut taxes, or the one who leaves millions of americans out of his economic plan?

the john mccain who supports the AIG bailout, or the one who opposed it?

the john mccain who supports regulation, or the one who opposed it?

he says he doesn't know very much about the economy. and in today’s economy, are you willing to take the risk?

Alongside audio/video clips showing his changing positions on the corresponding question, I think it could be really effective in showing how he continuously flip-flops because he just doesn't seem to get the economy.

great 2 minute ad; need to simplify the language

I hope the Obama team starts using the standard of "writing for the eighth grade." It is critical to make the language as accessible as it can be to the greatest number of people. Let's not leave any room for the false charge of elitism. The language could use a little more fire, too. In Senator Obama's recent 2 minute ad, I would have offered these edits:

"... companies that outsource our jobs" should be

"... companies that fire Americans and then send those jobs overseas."

The word "outsource" is too abstract for some. Let's be real direct about what's going on. "Overseas" may not be as accurate as "to other countries," since some jobs are sent to Canada and Mexico, but it is concise, visually descriptive, and compelling.

Election Year Hypocrisy

Election years typically bring out the hypocrits in all of us. Friends and colleagues we normally get along with day in and day out suddenly become "those damn right wing neo-cons hypocrits" and we become "those soft big government liberals".

Just this summer I was amazed when a neighbor called the police to report that I was violating City Ordinances because I had a pile of brush in my backyard. The police showed up to report the complaint and when we walked around to the backyard to observe the brush pile, I noticed that the guy who called the cops on me was watering his lawn against the city watering ban. I didn't get annoyed or anything but it did cross my mind that he was kind of being a hypocrit thinking it wasn't ok if I broke the law making my yard look ugly by being lazy but it was okay for him to brake the law to make his yard look green.

So maybe this election year I'm a little more sensitive to hypocrisy and it's just me, but the stuff I've been seeing from the McCain and other GOP campaigns is getting down right ridiculous.

How on earth can they attack Obama for being a "Community Organizer" and then try to praise community organizers in that forum on service? And how can they possibly call Obama an elitist when Cindy McCain wears a $300,000 outfit to the RNC? And how can they possibly claim Obama isn't willing to work across isles when he wrote a book about the inefficiencies of polarizing politics? And how can they possibly propose a tax plan the gives the largest tax breaks to richest Americans and then claim a greedy few at the top are responsible for the current economic climate?

I just love old guys... they say the darndest things.

Tuesday, John McDonalds said on monday, he meant the people of america are strong, not the economy.

Just ask the dozen or so people trying to quick sell their cars and boats along the front line of the KMart Parking lot on Lapeer road. Its a sad sign of the strengthof our peoples economy.

Brilliant from Obama today to actually come out firing off tangible ideas and tactics to fight for our economic stregth. Meanwhile McBush loans another 100B$ to a bank. I realize it is a crucial World Bank, so get some of the "World" to chip in maybe? We certainly give plenty to their economies when needed.

New Ad Idea - McCain-Phil Gram link!

Ad opens with history of the Phil Gram add on to the bill in the late 90's. Voice over talks about how it deregulated the banking industry and the subprime mortgages. Then it talks about how that bill from Phil Gram lead to all that we are seeing today but that Gram thinks we are "whinners". Finally it shows McCain saying that Gram is "the smartest economist I know" and how the economy is "strong". Finally, mention that if elected Phil Gram would be first in line for Secretary of Commerce and ask "Have you had enough of John McCain and his economic advisor handling your economy? Are you ready for real change?"

Run ads against "Republicans" rather than McCain/Palin

Narrator says: "Republicans have made promises in the past (cut to Bush in 2000 promising to be a bi-partisan reformer), but look what the last eight years have got us: (headlines from papers about foreclosures, job losses, recession, Iraq, bank failures)."

While McCain tries to distract you by talking about lipstick, here's what the experts are saying: (headline - Greenspan says McCain's tax cuts won't work.... McCain healthcare plan will tax employee benefits).

"The Republicans promise more of the same. This year, vote for change: (headlines showing Barack Obama's plan will lower taxes for the middle class, his plan for healthcare, etc.)

This deserves IMMEDIATE attention -- yes, even Disabled Americans people!!!

A McCain campaign ad claims Obama's "one accomplishment" was a bill to teach sex ed to kindergarten kids. Don't believe it, on several fronts.

Summary
A McCain-Palin campaign ad claims Obama's "one accomplishment" in the area of education was "legislation to teach 'comprehensive sex education' to kindergarteners." But the claim is simply false, and it dates back to Alan Keyes' failed race against Obama for an open Senate seat in 2004.

Obama, contrary to the ad's insinuation, does not support explicit sex education for kindergarteners. And the bill, which would have allowed only "age appropriate" material and a no-questions-asked opt-out policy for parents, was not his accomplishment to claim in any case, since he was not even a cosponsor – and the bill never left the state Senate.

In addition, the ad quotes unflattering assessments of the Illinois senator's record on education but leaves out sometimes equally harsh criticism directed at McCain in the same forums.

My Free Ad for the Obama Campaign

I will be voting for Barack Obama on November 4, but not because I think he has all the answers. I'm voting for him because he's shown a willingness to TRY something. I fear that with the Republican ticket, we're going to end up with four more years of policies that have gone nowhere.

So, with this in mind, I wrote a lengthy note to the Obama camp and emailed said note to the campaign offices, Senate offices, and several Democratic blogs. The gist of my message is that they need to shift the message away from one of personalities back to the question of vision. The following is an excerpt from what I wrote:

Dear Guys & Gals of the Obama Campaign:

Anytime the media attempts to drag you into a debate about personalities, shift the question back to McCain's TOTAL LACK OF VISION. Hammer away at the idea that it takes more than adding a buzzword to a campaign to make that party about "change." Redefine the playing field. What about this approach: since the McCain camp isn't detailing the kind of so-called change they're talking about, since they're offering no VISION, why not go ahead and do it for them?

Create an ad in which you say something like this:

"Now that the campaign is getting tough, John McCain is suddenly about CHANGE. But if that's the case, why hasn't he offered any specifics?

[Insert video clips of McCain saying "I don't know" or similar vague comments]

Since McCain won't, or simply can't, offer Americans a vision of what Republican change will be, we thought we'd give him a hand:

THE MCCAIN BRAND OF CHANGE:

- Even HIGHER unemployment rates than the recent historic high under Bush.

- Increased reliance on fossil fuels and new drilling that is harmful to our environment.

- At least seven Washington lobbyists operating in the White House.

- An expanded war in Iraq.

- More government bailouts that benefit Republican fat-cats.

- Increased alienation from the rest of the world.

- MORE and more of the same failed Bush policies.

With McCain, things will CHANGE in Washington all right--for the worse. Barack Obama, on the other hand, is for the RIGHT kind of change in Washington and America. He has a real vision for America, and he's been up-front about it from day one.

"Lipstick On A Pig" - How McCain is Fooling Americans

While on the campaign trail in Lebanon, Virginia, on Tuesday, Senator Barack Obama made a reference to "lipstick on a pig," a common analogy used to refer to something that remains the same but someone wants to fool you into believing is different.

As Obama said:

"John McCain says he's about change too, and so I guess his whole angle is, 'Watch out George Bush -- except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics -- we're really going to shake things up in Washington. That's not change. That's just calling something the same thing something different. You know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. You know you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough of the same old thing."

The McCain camp attacked Obama for his "lipstick on a pig" analogy, insisting that Obama had made a sexually insensitive remark about Sara Palin, who referred to herself as a lipstick-wearing pitbull during her nomination speech.

What McCain did not say was the following:

Last October in Iowa, McCain compared Hillary Clinton's current health care plan and the one she championed in 1993 saying: "I think they put some lipstick on the pig, but it's still a pig."
In May, after claiming the Republican presidential nomination, he again used the "lipstick on a pig" reference.
Former McCain advisor, Torie Clarke, even wrote a book titled: "Lipstick on a Pig: Winning In the No-Spin Era by Someone Who Knows the Game."
Current Republican Vice-President, Dick Cheney, has used the analogy more than three dozen times. To read excerpts of each time, click here.
Obama used the analogy in an interview with the Washington post last September in regards to our situation in Iraq and well before Palin ever made her lipstick-wearing pitbull comment.
Even Mike Huckabee, an ally of McCain, has taken Obama's side now that McCain has made such a media flurry of Obama's use of such a common analogy.

McCain has not only continued to attack Obama for using this phrase, but has gone so far as to release ads that slam Obama for using the phrase. The ad plays Obama's lipstick comment and then asks, "Ready to lead? No. Ready to smear? Yes."

What McCain is doing is fooling the American people. What does "lipstick on a pig" have to do with us hitting a record high in unemployment last week, the Dow dropping repeatedly, foreclosures at an all-time high, thousands of troops still fighting the war in Iraq and countless injured troops now back home facing the struggle to recover? What does the "lipstick on a pig" comment do to ensure that public schools receive proper funding, that college students are able to fund their educations, that when you want to buy a home, there is not today's credit crisis and you can actually get a loan? It does NOTHING to help the American people in any way.

While Barack Obama is trying to relay his policy initiatives, how what he has formulated will bring much needed change for families struggling to make ends meet, McCain is distracting the American people with ads about an analogy that he himself used before Obama did, an analogy that Dick Cheney, current Vice President and prominent member of McCain's own party has used over three dozen times.

McCain is distracting the American people and sadly, it is working. Out of a survey done of 312 women of all party affiliations, after McCain aired his ads on Wednesday attacking Obama for the use of the phrase, there was a significant increase in the perception that Senator Obama has a gender bias. So, yes, McCain is succeeding in influencing the American people through his shameful, deceitful attack ads, but what are Americans going to have to show for it?

If we, as Americans, allow ourselves to be distracted from the policies and issues that will affect us when a President takes office, then we are letting our country down. American need to fight back and show McCain that they are not stupid enough to fall for campaign ads that are based on baseless claims to begin with, that they will not let a phrase like "lipstick on a pig" detract from McCain explaining his issues on war, education, healthcare, foreign policy -- the issues that will decide America's future.

The question for McCain is -- why did you use the phrase you find so vile today when referring to Hillary Clinton? Why does Dick Cheney use it repeatedly? Why did your former advisor title a book after the same analogy? I'd be curious to know what the Arizona Senator would say then. Looks like this culture of lies that begin with the Bush administration is something McCain is hoping to carry forward. When you compare McCain and Bush, seems it's just lipstick on a pig.

Help Me Clear the Obama & Sex-Ed to Kindergarteners Issue

Through this campaign ad, released by McCain, McCain would like you to believe that Obama has as he says, "only one accomplishment" and that is, in McCain's words, Obama's (gasp!) "legislation to teach comprehensive sex-education to kindergarteners." "

Learning about sex before learning to read?" the ad says. "Barack Obama. Wrong on education. Wrong for your family." The Truth -- Not McCain's Lies McCain, must again, think the American people are stupid, creating a campaign ad built on nothing but shameful lies. Let's run through the facts:

As a state senator in Illinois, Obama voted for the sex education bill in committee in 2003, but he was not a sponsor.
The legislation never became law.
The legislation was written to protect young children from sexual predators in an age-appropriate manner, teaching kids the difference between "good touch" and "bad touch," for example.
The legislation would have allowed parents to pull their children from the sex-education classes if they so wished.

Why Obama Supported The Legislation in 2003

Rather than attacking Obama, McCain should be praising Obama for taking a stand to protect America's children. The statistics show that one out of every three to four girls has been sexually assaulted by the age of 18 and one boy out of every six will be abused by the age of 18. With over 491,720 registered sex offenders in the United States (with 80,000 to 100,000 of them currently missing) and the standard pedophile committing 117 sexual crimes in their lifetime, we should be thankful that there is someone out there like Obama that is able to recognize the importance of making children aware enough to recognize if they are being sexually abused. Clearly, McCain left all of this information out of the ad; you can't exactly vilify Obama when he is out to help parents that choose for thier kids to learn how to identify and protect themselves from possible sexual predators, can you?

Why Did McCain Make This Ad?

McCain has said that the Obama campaign is desperate, but the McCain campaign released this baseless ad just hours after Obama gave a speech on education and offered proposals that would have appealed to Republicans. Obama promised to double funding for charter schools, pay teachers based on performance and replace those who aren't up to the job -- guess that was too much for McCain to handle, so he had to make up this ad.

McCain's ad will air in parts of Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and Wisconsin, as well as on the Discovery channel -- please send this blog entry to everyone possible to that we can disarm McCain's despicable ad before it gains any traction. Let's show McCain and Palin that community organizers can work together to bring to light the package of lies they keep dropping at the American people's feet.

"Spare me the phony outrage. Spare me the phony talk about change," Obama said at the start of an education event in Norfolk, Virginia.
"We have real problems in this country right now. The American people are looking to us for answers, not distractions, not diversions, not manipulations. They want real answers to the real problems we are facing.
"I don't care what they say about me. But I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies and phony outrage and swift boat politics. Enough is enough," he said, referring to how Swift Boat Veterans for Truth launched attacks against Sen. John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race.
Obama said the McCain campaign was doing the type of thing that makes people "sick and tired of politics."

Fake Talk Express - McCain - Palin '08

Mr. McCain may think branding your bus with a flashy catch phrase "The Strait Talk Express" might be enough to rebuttal his own lack of speaking the facts rather then pure fiction. Mrs. Palin may think Americans are simple minded enough to accept her side of her story as she's presented it. They are both terribly wrong; Morally & Ethically first and above all. They are blatantly lying to the American public at a frightful rate. As a truly small town Minnesotan, raised by the Epiphany Parish's CCD or Christian Childhood Development program for years, I can honestly say they do NOT represent true American Small town values. Not even close. Secondly, from a small business owners perspective I can only wonder how long my own business would last if I made such false claims to my customers. I'm even more dumbfounded at how such slander, false advertisements, false claims, and faulty statements can be allowed to transmit across main stream television. Is there no right mined Federal Communications personal who would stand up and provide the service they promised? Where is the filter between Fact and Fiction, Truth and Lies, Legal and Illegitimate? The double standards permitted to the GOP's ads are shamefully staggering.

Beyond the GOP's ads, they have a full service, fully active 24/7 x 365 days a year, propaganda machine via Fox News Channel. As released by one of their own, Thank you Scott for having the dignity to bring such facts to light. As my above statements about False advertisements & the like, isn't the release of government issued propaganda to a public media source illegal? Yet day in, & day out Fox's blasphemous self titled reporters continue to pollute digital and analog wavelengths of communication. Bill O., S. Hannity, and the rest of the right wing media machine, all topped off with the mastermind behind the past 8 Bush years. Carl Rove. Can we say conflict of interests? Their continued inaccuracies have gotten so horrid, I had to block the channel from my television. for fear my children might see such flashy lies. 9/9/08 new ad misses the mark

Just watched the new ad (mavericks/The naked truth). I don't think it hits hard enough, though some of my facts below may be off:

1. The opening shot is about McCain being against pork barrel spending. The 'proof' is 7 washington lobbyists on his campaign. So what. Campaigns are filled with lobbyists. Is Barack so clean? The word lobbyists is muffled in the ad too - I thought it said 'organizers' at first. It would have been far better to highlight how much pork barrel money they have won for their clients over the last 8 years.Even better. also highlight how much money McCain has taken from Big Oil and Automakers. Better yet, emphasize that Obama has taken no campaign funds from corporations, lobbyists and PACs, and highlight how much money is from small donations.

2. Nobody says 'Whoa'. This part just doesn't work for me and burns valuable seconds of ad time. Just put a 'game show' buzzer sound in.

3. 'voting with bush 90% of the time' - should be 'Voting with Bush, agreeing with Bush, 90% of the time for the last eight years'. Should also cite the source. Sources are there for all other parts of the ad.

4. Palin holding a 'nowhere 99901' t-shirt. Huh, what does that mean? Nothing to me! My understanding is that Palin made campaign promises about the bridge while running for Governor. She killed it only after Congress had refused to fully fund it and she realized Alaskans would have to cough up about $329 million instead of Uncle Sam. And, Alaska spent the $200 million anyway for other transportation projects - more pork. This part needs a video clip of palin from her governor campaign. The Ad needs to spend more time on this part and a lot less on the Whoa segment. This part is rushed and doesn't have much impact. I feel the newspaper quotes move too fast to really be effective.

5. what's the point of quoting the source for 'The Naked Truth'? Doesn't mean much to me.

Dear Senators Obama and Biden:

I live in the battleground state of Florida and I have to say the commercials running here are too weak! McCain-Palin are touting themselves, falsely, as agents of change. The Obama-Biden commercials are doing nothing to combat that image or expose their blatant lies. Saying that McCain means the same is a nice campaign slogan, but it is high-time the Obama-Biden campaign begin exposing the lies and the voting and policy records of these two in the commercials and explain WHY McCain means the same.

IT IS NOT ENOUGH to give a good speech in Ohio or Wisconsin. The PEOPLE do not pay attention to news stories. The PEOPLE get their thoughts from 15 to 30 second sound bites and McCain is winning that battle here in Florida! The PEOPLE do not watch CNN, they watch local news that is as biased as the WSJ. The networks are owned by billionaires!

It is time to run an ad that shows how McCain the senator is 180 degrees from McCain the candidate, as Senator Kerry so eloquently stated in his convention speech. The RNC was the most watched political convention EVER. What does that tell you? When McCain began blasting Obama in ads, his poll numbers went up dramatically. What does that tell you? Exposing the truth is not negative campaigning. A recent headline declares McCain is up 15% on Obama with independents. NEWSFLASH, that is the election, PERIOD!

I am a campaign contributor. PLEASE, spend my money on ads exposing the truth of these two iconoclast conservatives who are lying about their records and their positions. Why has anyone not challenged Palin on her claim that special needs parents "will have a friend in the WH" when as Governor she gutted the budget on special needs programs and services in Alaska?

The prospect of another four years of Republicans in the Whitehouse is too problematic to think about. I am terrified at the prospect of 7 conservative extremists on the Bench and more government in the shadows; of isolationist foreign policy that has now reignited the cold war; of "don't worry we'll take care of you" leadership that enriches corporations and robs us of our opportunities; of insurance companies that are not held accountable for refusing to pay claims; of climate destroying policies and practices for the benefit of higher corporate profit that does nothing to benefit the employees (the so called “Healthy Forest Initiative” making timber companies rich while they lay off workers) etc., etc., etc. We are losing our nation, our ideals, our freedoms, and I am losing HOPE in the way this campaign is getting its message out.

PLEASE, GET GOING!! Publish the truth about McCain and Palin before it is too late. Do not wait for the debates and do not rely on CNN.

The secretary also would be able to require drug companies to assess their drugs against similar ones that already exist and include those comparisons in advertisements. McCain Voted Against Allowing States To Develop Programs To Force Pharmaceutical Companies To Discount Drug Prices For Americans. John McCain was reconsidering his opposition to drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and planned to talk about the issue with Alaska Gov. One of those calls was made by Palin’s director of boards and commissions, Frank Bailey. The administration says public employees need to know they can debate openly amongst themselves. Republicans' definition of "readiness and experience"

As many of you who might be reading this article know that John McCain and his fellow Republicans have been repeatedly attacking Obama for "lack of experience and readiness", and they continue to do so after the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and the Republican National Convention (RNC). I suppose you might say that they are vastly overwhelmed by Obama's impressive speech, and that their only reaction would be thusly. However, I believe the GOP has their own vocabulary: "to be ready and experienced means you need to endorse President George Bush's failed policies for 4 more years and not discuss the plans for the future". If you look in a dictionary, it defines "ready" and "experienced" on behalf of everyone including Barack Obama. Clearly, based on his eloquent speeches I have watched, he can plan ahead for the future of our economy, and surprisingly, from what I read in The Audacity of Hope, Obama has been in the White House before. McCain also has been in the White House, but for those 26 years of serving as a senator, he simply cannot formulate plans that would work in favor of all of us. I assume that McCain's voting with George Bush more than 90-95% of the time serves as his training ticket to be the "best" president.

Here's my take on handling Sarah Palin...!

1. Stay Focused on McCain. He is running for POTUS. Sarah is a side show. Obama should always stay focused on Mccain. Create a separate Palin response team consisting on women surrogates, separate press teams etc. Do not let the main team even think about Sarah. In addition, Obama should never come across as angry, irritated when talking question ( which may not always be avoided) about Sarah. The McCain's are looking for a BLACK MAN BEATING A HELPLESS BEAUTIFUL, LOVELY, WHITE, BLONDE WOMEN BEATING moment.

2. Use women surrogates and beat her up on women rights. Make her restate her extreme view on womens issues and seccionist ties of her and her husband.

3. Assocaite McCain to Palin's extreme, right wing views. Use negatives of Palin to hit McCain. Make McCain pay for her words.

4. Remember, Palin is a distraction (at least for now). Do not bring in the BIG GUNS TO KILL A FLY.

5. Start a separate fundraing account just for hitting Palin. The base is mad, furious at her. They would not might contributing extra just to target her.

6. No separate, individual ad hitting just Palin. It should always be McCain using Palin's views and words.

We all love Tom Cruise as "Mav" the daredevil pilot who thwarts the rules and flies by the tower... UNTIL Goose dies.

It's everywhere now - John McCain has shorn up his "maverick" reputation and Palin adds to it. Why does this have to be a good thing? Maverick's are independent, but they are also undependable. McCain made celebrity something to be ashamed of... I think when you need someone to steady the ship of state, you don't want a "maverick."

Don't say he's not a maverick - then he'll just say he is. Everyone is saying he is for choosing Palin. ACCUSE him of being a maverick - make maverick a bad word. Think what he did to one of your strengths - your ability to draw a crowd?

Grassroot's in Atlanta, GA., held the view that the modernist and liberal parties in the Protestant churches had surrendered their heritage as Evangelicals by accommodating the views and values of the world. In the Left Behind books, Carpathia is a junior senator who speaks several languages, is beloved by people around the world and fawned over by a press corps that cannot see his evil nature, and rises to absurd prominence after delivering just one major speech. Hmmh. But serious Antichrist theorists don't stop there. Everything from Obama's left-handedness to his positive rhetoric to his appearance on the cover of this magazine has been cited as evidence of his true identity. One chain email claims that the Antichrist was prophesied to be "A man in his 40s of MUSLIM descent," which would indeed sound ominous if not for the fact that the Book of Revelation was written at least 400 years before the birth of Islam.

The Finest Political Ad Ever

We must begin with one of the worst ads of this year. I have to say one of the worst, because McCain has had a string of outright lies recently, most egregiously claiming that Obama did not support US troops, lying that Obama had not visited injured troops because he couldn't bring cameras, when in fact Obama didn't visit them because he didn't want them to use them for political gain. (We now know that, if Obama had visited the troops in Germany, McCain was prepared to launch an ad stating that Obama had used them for political gain.) That commercial claimed that Obama instead went to the gym, and it uses footage of Obama playing basketball with US troops, but conveniently blurs out the troops themselves- a rare hat trick of taking advantage of US troops and Obama at the same time.

One of the other worst ads of the year is one suggesting that Obama isn't ready to lead because he is too popular. I've previously dealt with the blatant racism in this ad, but now want to focus on the use of Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears. The McCain campaign wants to pretend that there is no racist element to combining two young beautiful white women with a black man- as if they are completely ignorant of the history of the South and African-Americans.

It is of course rather ridiculous to suggest that, if someone is popular, we shouldn't elect them. McCain must think you become President by being selected by an elite cabal, rather than a popular vote. He must think that people all over the world are so stupid that they like someone for no reason, and not because they think he would make a good leader. Obama has responded with his own remarks. But I believe Paris Hilton has come up with by far, the finest response, and the finest ad of this political season.

Essence Magazine profiles both Barack and Michelle in the most recent issue. Here's an excerpt from Barack:

Twenty thousand people in Austin, Texas. We had 15,000 in Oakland.

“People have asked me what accounts for all this,” he continues. “I would love to take all the credit myself and say it’s because I’m just so terrific. But I have to say it’s not about me. The reason people are coming out is they are burning with a want and a desire for change.”

The NY Times is reporting that the GOP is dropping in voter registration in many states this year.

Well before Senators Barack Obama and John McCain rose to the top of their parties, a partisan shift was under way at the local and state level. For more than three years starting in 2005, there has been a reduction in the number of voters who register with the Republican Party and a rise among voters who affiliate with Democrats and, almost as often, with no party at all.
While the implications of the changing landscape for Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain are far from clear, voting experts say the registration numbers may signal the beginning of a move away from Republicans that could affect local, state and national politics over several election cycles. Already, there has been a sharp reversal for Republicans in many statehouses and governors’ mansions.
In several states, including the traditional battlegrounds of Nevada and Iowa, Democrats have surprised their own party officials with significant gains in registration. In both of those states, there are now more registered Democrats than Republicans, a flip from 2004. No states have switched to the Republicans over the same period, according to data from 26 of the 29 states in which voters register by party. (Three of the states did not have complete data.)

Maureen Dowd has an interesting opinion piece on Obama and Hillary supporters:

Obama met for an hour Tuesday with three dozen top Hillaryites at a hotel here, seeking their endorsement and beguiling their begrudging. He opened the session by saying that he knew there had been frustration about what they saw as sexism during the primary.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Hillary die-hards want to enshrine a whine in the Democratic platform about how the primaries “exposed pervasive gender bias in the media” and call on party leaders to take “immediate and public steps” to denounce any perceived bias in the future. That is one nutty idea.
Perhaps it is because feminists are still so busy cataloging past slights to Hillary that they have failed to mount a vivid defense of Michelle Obama, who has taken over from Hillary as the one conservatives like to paint as a harridan.

Finally, here are some excerpts from Obama's energy town hall this morning in Youngstown, Ohio.

"And while Senator McCain’s plan won’t save you at the pump anytime soon, it sure has done a lot to raise campaign dollars. Senator McCain raised more than one million dollars from the oil industry just last month, most of which came after he announced his plan for offshore drilling to a room full of cheering oil executives."

Really. Is that the best they can come up with?

Granted, it was painful to watch McCain grocery shop, hold hands with the Dalai Lama and hang out with the common folk in front of a fudge shop. I hear he's even started looking into the internet.

I respected him in 2000. Now he's had a taste of the W. kool-aid, and methinks he likes it.

Who's been guiding Mr. McCain's ad campaign? Can you say swift vote? In 2004, McCain called these tactics dishonest, and defended Kerry. Hmmm. Wonder what's changed?

On July 3, news reports said Senator John McCain, worried that he might lose the election before it truly started, opened his doors to disciples of Karl Rove from the 2004 campaign and the Bush White House.

Here we go again. McCain has once again reversed his position on running a clean campaign. He has stooped to a new all time low in Republican politics. His political ads indicating Obama is responsible for high oil prices are down right false and smacks of dirty politics.

When you listen to McCain talk he offers no real solutions to Americas problems. His only platform seems to be in support of the big oil companies, drilling off the coast and in ANWAR or criticizing everything Obama has to say.

Frankly, I have heard just about enough dirty politics. The Republicans offer drilling as some pie in the sky solution to high oil prices. Even if we were drilling today it would take at least five to seven years before that oil was discovered and placed in line to fuel depots. Republicans seem to think the American people are just a bunch of passive dumb asses who can be easily manipulated by the politics of fear and false promises of simple solutions. The worst news is they are right.

I will readily agree 911 was one of the most tragic events in our recent history. It unfortunately presented the opportunity for Republicans and the powerful special interests they represent to hi-jack the United States Government in a silent coupe. By removing the rights of the American people and substituting their surrogates powerful special interests have trampled on the very Constitution, which has made this great country, what it was.

I say what it was because of the destruction of our civil rights, tapping of our phones, reading our mail, detaining American citizens without legal justification and the endless and unjustified war in Iraq. A war in which powerful American companies are robbing the American people blind. Millions and billions of taxpayer dollars are being wasted on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. This does not even take into account the men and women who are serving our nation and the hardships for them and their families. Not to mention the dead and wounded on our side. Remember there are innocent Iraqi men, women and children who are suffering and dying in this war.

The worst part is the McCain campaign talks up the success of the surge. This so called “success” is another Republican load of crap. Credit should go to the “Sons of Iraq” who have, along with large sums of money from the Bush Administration, risen up against Al Quida. The surge was only another excuse to stay in Iraq and allow American contractors to pillage the United States Treasury.

Its time to get all Republicans voted out of office so we can return reasonable representation to the people of this country. Its time the American people had a leader with vision and a real plan to turn things around and save us from becoming nothing but economic slaves to the rich and powerful. Its time for them to go!!!!!! Vote Democrat in all National and Local elections.

(CNN) — Two former military men who traveled to war zones with Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) say the presumptive Democratic nominee is qualified to be commander in chief, despite his lack of military experience.

Sens. Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) and Jack Reed (D-Rhode Island) spoke to media this morning in Washington after appearing on CBS’ "Face the Nation." The two accompanied Obama to the Middle East last week.

“Each candidate has strengths and weaknesses, and experience does matter,” Hagel said. “But what matters more in my opinion is character and judgment. And judgment meaning who is it that you bring around, who is it that you listen to? Can you make the right decisions for the right reasons on behalf of your country and the world?”

Both Hagel and Reed spent years in the military. Reed attended West Point and retired as an Army captain, and Hagel earned two Purple Hearts fighting in the Vietnam War. Reed recounted the experience of traveling to military posts with Obama.

“There was something that was really dynamic,” he said. “We were trying to leave the headquarters of the 101st and we couldn't get down to the car because soldiers were flocking out of their duty positions to get autographs, to say hello, to take a picture, and it was just genuine, spontaneous and very, very enthusiastic throughout the entire trip.”

Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) has repeatedly questioned Obama’s stance on the war in Iraq, particularly his opposition to the surge of troops instituted over the past year. The presumptive Republican nominee addressed the topic again in a radio address yesterday.

“Even in retrospect, he would choose the path of retreat and failure for America over the path of success and victory,” said McCain. “That's not exactly my idea of the judgment we seek in a commander-in-chief.”

Reed and Hagel also addressed a new ad from the McCain campaign. The ad’s script says that Obama “made time to go to the gym, but cancelled a visit with wounded troops.” It continues, “Seems the Pentagon wouldn't allow him to bring cameras.” Both Hagel and Reed said the ad is inappropriate.

I am a 59yr old white woman from Mass...for all practical reasons...I am not typical of barack supporters...but.. I believe in the dream of having a president who cares about the people he leads, a leader in the world for good. I have been committed to Barack since I saw him speak at the democrat national convention...waiting for him to run for president. I saw leader in his eyes when he spoke. I am proud that we can have a dignified position in the world. Someone who doesn't shoot from the hip but takes lots of opinions from every point of view to make choices. He is simply the best. And his wife ...a dignified smart lovely mom and so supportive of him in her affection and ability to close the deals. I'm proud. You go Michelle! Also, dare I say that Barack Obama for president ...is the Clinton's dream come true too. Really it is...they are ambitious..and would sell their principles for the white house...but in fact this is their real dream...to have a democrat that does work for the people not the power of the few corp or lobby interests. That's what I think. I have contributed small amounts 4 times...to Obama..and I never did before. I drove 2 hrs to a strangers home to make calls in Massachusetts with supporters for his campaign. “We need honest answers... And a president we can trust." That's what Obama says, adding, "The same old Washington politics won't fix our problems."

One could be scared, looking at the photo-op of Senator Clinton, joining the commute of a worker and paying the gas that was required, looking at the advertisements of Senator Clinton showing her as a maker in the matters of mortgage crisis and gas prizes.

Senator Obama relies on his message only. No pandering. No bending a politician into an average Joe. As a result portraying himself as an honest politician.

This is a lot he's asking people to understand and believe in. We'll see if he'll be able to succeed. For sure he shows the real bravery.

Attack on Obama: A "Reprehensible Misrepresentation"

I like to keep my ear to the ground see and what all the different 'movements' and funds are doing. The central claim in the ad is that Obama was "weak on the war on gangs" when he voted in 2001 against a bill to make gang killers automatically eligible for the death penalty. The first thing to be said about the claim is that the author of that very bill says the ad is a "tasteless and reprehensible misrepresentation" of Obama's stand and "completely mischaracterizes" his position on criminals.

The bill's sponsor is Illinois state Rep. Susana Mendoza of Chicago, who vainly attempted to get it enacted in 2001 after being elected the previous year on the strength of her anti-gang activism. When we asked Mendoza for comment, she said the ad made her "sick to my stomach" and said Obama opposed her bill for respectable reasons:

Mendoza: The ad completely mischaracterizes Senator Obama's position against ruthless criminals and attempts to paint him as weak on crime, when I know that to be the furthest thing from the truth. If anyone should be upset about his not voting for HB1812, it should be me, as its sponsor. But, as I said before, I understood and respected then and continue to do so to this day, his reasons for not supporting that particular bill, none of which were because of a weak position towards criminals. ... Keep an eye on this and be prepared to make refutations and comments on youtube, etc... I hope to produce a video refutation...Any info re: obama on the death penalty would be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, if you have a digg account, use it. When people are exposed to the ad, they should have all the facts beforehand.

Well, John McCain has made it clear that he will be running a respectful, civil campaign and that nobody acting on his behalf should do nasty attack ads. Both he and the RNC have demanded that the South Carolina Republican Party not air its utterly dirty campaign ad.

Here's the punch line (no pun intended) - Hillary is claiming that she is the one who is electable because she can better take a punch and is tougher (read: can and will play really dirty). McCain's action today really undercuts her argument that the ability to play dirty is critical to "electability.

Yes, undercuts it completely.

I was looking at the Pennsylvania for Obama blog before making calls to PA when I stumbled across "One Voice," a television commercial that began running in Pennsylvania today. The ad that has gotten the most attention in the media, "Maya" about the women in Barack's life, is certainly powerful. But "One Voice" should be seen by everyone in the Obama campaign, everywhere in this country, and indeed, across the world, because it captures the essence of this movement. I've seen a fair number of Obama commercials and this is the best, and arguably one of the best political spots ever, IMHO. Its message is as inspirational and aspirational as JFK's famous line in his inaugural speech, "Ask not..."

Now this is truly funny. Turns out that the girl who appears asleep in Clinton's 3am ad is a big time Obama supporter who has volunteered for his events in Oregon. She is eligible to vote in the general elections in November and would absolutely vote for Sen. Obama in the blink of an eye. She's also sort of mad that the ad agency used the file footage for Clinton's ad. She'd like to do a counter-ad for Sen. Obama to set the record straight.

BONNEY LAKE, Washington (AP) -- Casey Knowles didn't much like a recent campaign commercial for Hillary Clinton -- even though she's in it as a sleeping 8-year-old.

Hillary Clinton's ad aired in Texas before last week's vote and implied a lack of experience on Barack Obama's part.

After all, she about to turn 18 now and is a big supporter of Barack Obama.

"What I don't like about the ad is its fear-mongering," Knowles told ABC's "Good Morning America Weekend Edition" on Sunday. "I think it's a cheap hit to take. I really prefer Obama's message of looking forward to a bright future."

The well-known Clinton ad aired in Texas before last week's vote and implied a lack of experience on Obama's part. It showed an exterior of a Colonial-style home and old stock footage of Knowles sleeping in bed.

A narrator describes a phone ringing in the White House: "It's 3 a.m. and your children are safely asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?"

Clinton won the Texas primary by a 51-47 percent margin.

Knowles said she didn't see the ad until Jon Stewart lampooned it Thursday on "The Daily Show." Her brother noticed it was her, and the family replayed the commercial on their digital recorder to be sure.

"They were parodying this ad, kind of poking fun at it," Knowles said. "My brother was like, 'Is that Casey?' And we just erupted. Sure enough, it's me."

The file footage was originally shot for a railroad company advertisement. The Clinton campaign bought it from Getty Images.

Knowles, a senior at Bonney Lake High School who turns 18 next month, has been campaigning for Obama. She attended his rally at Seattle's KeyArena on February 8. Her mother, Pam, told The News Tribune of Tacoma that Casey cried and trembled after shaking the candidate's hand.

The next day, she was a Democratic precinct captain for the state's caucuses. If she plays her cards right, she could go to the national convention.

Not to mention that she could be in another ad. After her identity became known, Obama's campaign contacted her.

"I mentioned that we should make a counter ad, me and Obama, against Hillary," she said. "They thought that was really funny. They actually might take me up on it."

That said, Knowles said she plans to vote for whichever Democrat wins the nomination.

Thought for a perfect campaign ad...

Texas Response to Clinton "True" Ad

I found this post at www.hopeactionchange.org I am sure that we will see this ad in PA too.

In an ad that was recently run here in Texas entitled “True”, the Clinton campaign discusses Senator Obama’s position as head of a sub-committee overseeing operations in Afghanistan and how he has not held a single substantive meeting since being elected it’s head.

The information presented in this ad is false. Her ad states: As chairman of the oversight committee charged with the force of fighting al Qaeda in Afghanistan, he was too busy running for President to hold even one hearing.

The fact of the matter is that not a single existing subcommittee is “charged with the force of fighting al Qaeda in Afghanistan”. Senator Obama is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee that focuses on European Affairs.

Last time I checked a map, Afghanistan wasn’t located in Europe.

Having lived in 3 different countries, and friends all over the world, I want to see a "Global perspective."

The other night in TX, Barack said, "The world is watching." Then he mentioned the man in Uganda huddled around his t.v. at 5:00 am to watch the Iowa results.

Start with a black screen, with Barack Obama's voice saying he supports the ad. The words come on the screen that say: "The world is watching."
I want to see an ad that shows people all over the world (Cuba, China, Poland, England, Brazil, Austrailia, Sweden, Czeck Republic, Kenya, etc)
with significant landmarks in the back grounds (Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Victoria Falls, streets of Hong Kong, Sherpas at the Base of Everest, etc) All these people all over the world watching, rooting for the US to elect Obama. With their T-Shirts on, their bumper stickers on the rickshaws, hats, pins, signs in the windows, huddling around the only working TV in the villiage, etc-- that shows their support for Obama.

And close with the screen fading to black... with the words, "The world is watching..."

Or "How about THAT for foreign policy?"

What do you think? Can it be done? Would it work?
