Four-Star General Tony McPeak just finished a 3-day Obama for Commander in Chief tour where he met with veterans and everyday Iowans across the state. On the tour we discussed a range of issues including the war in Iraq and respecting our veterans by providing the benefits they deserve. We had a great trip with stops in Atlantic, Council Bluffs, Sioux City, Algona, Mason City, Ames and Des Moines.
General McPeak talked about Senator Obama’s wisdom to speak out against the war in Iraq before it started and before it was popular to do so. Qualities such as Barack Obama’s judgment and experience convince McPeak that Obama is the best candidate to bring our country together, bring our troops home, and make progress on the tough challenges our nation faces.
Here’s footage from our Des Moines stop:
General McPeak served 37 years in the Air Force and retired as Air Force Chief of Staff in 1994. After President Bush led the United States into a war that should’ve never been waged in Iraq, General McPeak broke from the Washington establishment and spoke out against the misguided war. He brings his 37 years of service, including over 6,000 hours as a command pilot, to the Obama Campaign by serving as a national campaign co-chair and foreign policy advisor.
