After meeting with folks in Ottumwa, Michelle Obama traveled to Centerville, where she spoke to a large crowd at the Continental Hotel. She thanked local field organizer Colin Milligan for his hard work and encouraged everyone to help Colin out by signing a supporter card. This group of seniors from Centerville High School came out and they’re all planning to caucus in January!Michelle spoke about how our country needs a President who inspires Americans to feel compassion and empathy for one another. She said that "the challenge of America is to care for one another - then we would only be as strong as the weakest among us."Michelle also talked about how Barack's range of experiences beyond politics makes – like his work as an organizer in communities devastated plant closings and as a Constitutional scholar – make him the most qualified to be President. She said, "just imagine if we had a president of the United States who's actually worked with people on the ground...A president of the United States who actually understands and respects the Constitution.”Michelle ended her speech by talking about the incredible importance of the Iowa caucuses and how everyone should participate.
The world is watching us. The world wants to know who we are. We need you to talk to your friends and neighbors. The world needs to know how you feel. And I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
