On the Wheels of Hope: RAGBRAI Recap

As 15,000 cyclists pedaled across Iowa's landscape of rolling hills and bountiful fields, Team Obama was in high gear showing their campaign spirit. The Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) stretched 477 miles this year.

On Tuesday, RAGBRAI riders stayed overnight in Hampton, and Obama campaign volunteers played music, passed out stickers to riders and signed up supporters on their way into town. Some enthusiastic supporters stopped by the Obama table and asked for signs to decorate their RAGBRAI team schoolbus. We caught up with them later and found them relaxing on top of their newly outfitted Obama bus.

Riders started the day Thursday in Cedar Falls and traveled to Independence. The Bikers for Barack joined in for all 62 miles of the trip sporting "Ride for Change" t-shirts which prompted many cheers. Along the way, the Obama riders stopped at RAGBRAI favorites such as roadside food vendors Pastafari and Beekman's Ice Cream.

The riders also stopped along the way to chat with Black Hawk County farmers and took a photo with the farmers' most reliable and favorite tractor--a 1966 Farmall 806, which still had its original coat of the classic red International paint.

This is awesome. I wish I could have been there, since I like to ride my bike. Are you guys gonna do this for the next election?
