In questi giorni una società storica come CAT chiude alcuni stabilimenti in Italia, come è successo ad altre società di fama mondiale. Chiudono in Italia e nel mondo. Mi auguro che questo accada perchè ci sono altre società e giovani operatori economici pronti a sostituirle. Il sistema economico mondiale è assimilabile alle condizioni di crisi della CAT e delle tante aziende che lascerebbero il passo ad altre più efficaci giovani aziende. I am disappointed, but I have to inform you that, in my country, in this period, the David Letterman Interviews to President Obama is revolutionary. It is clear for me that my country is living a not-normal democracy level: news, tv, radio and other information ways are near the guard-level of the end of freedom. In questi ultimi anni non è così facile essere soddisfatti degli esiti di una tornata elettorale, ma in questo caso non mi sento deluso perchè:
- Luigi De Magistris sarà nel Parlamento Europeo;
- Sonia Alfano sarà nel Parlamento Europeo;
- Una trentina di consiglieri comunali delle Liste Civiche di Grillo sono entranti in importanti città italiane;
- Numerosi grillini sono entrati nei consigli Circoscrizionali di importanti città italiane;
Sono quindi fiducioso e spero.
Spero anche che il Presidente Obama possa incontrare, prima o poi, un italiano lungimirante che fa politica meglio di tanti politici professionisti, con meno arroganza e più proposte concrete, fa il comico e si chiama Beppe Grillo. Da questo incontro il Presidente Obama potrebbe comprendere meglio il nostro paese.
Non è necessario condividere tutto quanto sostiene Beppe Grillo, ma qui in Italia non sarebbe errato seguire qualcuna delle sue proposte, tra cui:
- impedire la presenza in Parlamento di condannati;
- impedire la presenza in Parlamento di candidati eletti per oltre 2 legislature;
- consentire l'elezione nominale dei candidati.
Si può cominciare da piccole cose... o no?

What happen in this last years in Palestine and Israel it's such a civil war due to the huge number of civilian death. The meaning of this war is no meaning. The priority is the life respect in order to achieve a real agreement between them with the main issue to live acpeting and respecting each other. My personal think is to ask UN force to grant this agreement in order to rebuild the peace and the faith in the future for each citizens either in Gaza or in Israel. Maybe a sort of weapon embargo from land to the sea agreed from all the neighbouring nations and UN force can help to rebuild this both mangled lands.

sono stanca morta ma un mio intervento questa mattina era necessario. Voglio ancora prudenza. Nel 2004 la dissolvenza dei castelli in aria che mi ero costruita per Kerry mi ha riservato una bruciatura che ancora scotta. Quindi la prudenza è d'obbligo. Anche se i soliti giornalisti europei già da un'ora parlano di vittoria aggiungendo ai 207 grandi elettori che Barack ha conquistato finora, quelli degli stati sicuramente blu come Oregon, California e Washington. Sembra davvero fatta, ma per scaramanzia non dico altro. Ho appena sentito che il voto popolare mostra scarti esigui fra i due candidati. Anche per JF Kennedy fu lo stesso.
La storia ormai si sta fondendo con la cronaca.

Oggi scrivo in italiano e non in inglese, spero mi perdonerete. Il primo giorno su MyBo mi serve più che altro per guardarmi attorno, per capire cosa fare del mio dashboard e settare il mio profilo. Ho donato 5$ e quelli della cartasì mi hanno telefonato allarmati chiedendomi spiegazioni. Sarà mai possibile?

While I was out yesterday getting voters to register, dozens of people stopped by the registration table to vent thier feelings about McCain's pick for VP. One supporter of McCain said that he is appauled by McCain's lack of judgement and has decided not to vote for him because of it. Dozens of women, some of them Hillary supporters, said they were insulted and outraged. It speaks volumes of McCain's opinion about not only women, but ALL people. He thinks we are naive and stupid! And if he wanted to take the focus off of Obama after the DNC, he did, but in a very negative way. So who is naive and stupid? A double backfie indeed!

I (and the biggest part of the world behind me) want peace heroes for my children future.The cult of victory by arms must die. The way of thinking, the mind of pacifists, intellectuals, thinkers are what we want, what we need, what the World needs today.
Your medals shine but not your ideas, not your personnality, not your mind.

WE REALLY DON'T WANT YOU, Mr Mc CAIN
The coming onto the scene of Jim Webb with his discussion on Scotts-Irish poverty, introduced on Morning Joe, could in my opinion lead to a profound transformation of the Red State Blue State map, if I am reading this correctly.
There is a potential for a much broader argument on race emerging. Frankly, I was not expecting this dialogue at all, but I welcome it!!
I can tell you that as an Italian, born in Brooklyn and living in Philly, my people do not feel responsible IN THE LEAST for slavery in America. But we do understand there is a historic and a present level of discrimination when it comes to African Americans that needs to be overcome; but that feeling has a real spectrum of intensity and relevance in every day life.
A lot of folks, not only Italians, don't feel they are historically responsible for the plight of African Americans in this Country, but they live the reality of the consequences of this battle in inner city politics. The Italians have their political reps in Unions, City Officials, etc. The Black people have their guys, that represent their interests in inner city life, etc. The battle between races is a battle of constituencies bringing their interests to the table, vying for a piece of the pie.
I don't know the sentiment among Scotts-Irish, but I can understand Jim Webb's point about the cultural backlash of disenfranchisement when it comes to groups among Whites, considered White, but who were not historically involved in slavery, and who feel they have missed the opportunities of empowerment that came with Affirmative Action.
Cleary we have to understand that Affirmative Action is not just making up for slavery, but rather is about an ongoing process of transformation of society aiming at allowing generational wrongs to be made right... giving opportunity to human beings who for generations were pushed down and hurt to overcome the ripple effect of those generational wrongs through time. I think Jim Webb's point was, in fact, that this description is felt as relevant for more than just African Americans in this Country.
We should ponder the fact that there are groups among Whites in America who hold more culpability than others for what happened to African Americans, and some groups may feel a common sense of disenfranchisement in society, like the Scotts-Irish according to Webb, which unavoidably leads to an ongoing battle of interests. I think this was what Webb was getting at in his recent interview on Morning Joe. So, I believe there is an opportunity here to unite these interests, these segments of society that feel they have been hurt and neglected.
This dialogue can and should be conducted carefully as one meant to unite rather than divide.
If we could look at the common plight of our ancestors, which has lead to the kinds of division existing in our country, I believe many could feel a sense of being disenfranchised by power. The question is WHAT WILL WE DO WITH THAT NOTION?
Will we use this notion to foment anger and rebellion within and without, which Webb sees at the basis of the Appalachian vote; or will we use it to find a new form of Populism as Jim Webb suggests?
Clearly, there is racism in Appalachia, no matter how we slice it or dice it. In fact, this whole issue is about explaining how that anger and bitterness Barack was speaking about in San Francisco is finding a narrative in society. Will we hide our heads in the sand, or can we find a path to healing? I think Jim Webb has found a narrative for this, perhaps relevant within the consciousness of Appalachia, and that we should pay close attention to.
If we choose to pay attention, listening rather than judging, we have a historic opportunity to start a dialogue among racial segments that are in the same boat when it comes to economics, uniting these groups more fully under the banner of similar goals. Racism no doubt has a basis in socio-economic struggles. Perhaps in working together along these very lines we have an unprecedented opportunity at hand to start a dialogue which is relevant to each party in question, and which has the potential to bridge gaps in ways that words alone are unable.
I think the Democratic party already has this message of unity within its agenda, but has been unable to motivate a very large segment of Red States to vote in their economic interest because it has not united the cultures, the histories, the narratives - correctly.
Can Obama and Webb start a movement to unite disenfranchised people of different cultures and races under one populist banner? What impact would this have on the geography of Red and Blue States?
Can you imagine the opportunity at hand when it comes to furthering equality in this Country?
I sense a profoundly impactful opportunity at hand.
mi scuso per il prolungato silenzio comunicativo. Dal sogno bruscamente interrotto che portavo avanti per l'Italia, mi ritrovo a sperare di nuovo in Barack. C'è voluto più del previsto per riprendersi dagli esiti elettorali made in Italy; le ragioni sono molteplici e, data l'ora, ne cito solo una: le elezioni '08 hanno fatto emergere un mio impegno per una causa politica che è stato forte quanto le batoste ricevute.
Riprendo quindi a sperare di nuovo in Barack e nella mia Philly che tradirmi proprio non può. Non parlo di vittoria, perché ormai si sa che i cinque o sei punti di distacco ci sono, seppur ridotti rispetto ai 16 inziali.Non serve a Barack una vittoria se pensiamo che è Hillary ad aver bisogno almeno di un pareggio. Ho speranza perché so del buon lavoro (e dei tanti soldi spesi) in campagna (LA PIU' GRANDE DELLA STORIA IN PENNSYLVANIA) dal team del nostro senatore e perché mi fa piacere leggere che Barack "cast his opponent in one of the most negative lights of the entire 16-month campaign, calling her a compromised Washington insider.(source: NYT -
