Ok I got a question for everyone, how far are you all willing to go? All this talk about change isn't going to mean anything unless we keep this movement going after Obama is our President. I hope you understand that, Barack Obama is great and he will provide the leadership to change the world but in the end it is going to fall on us to make these changes. Actually making him President is the easy part, alot of his plans will fail in Washington DC, (you really think politicians want change, they have power now and won't give that up easily), if he doesn't continue to get the support from us.
Once he is elected we cannot sit back and say ok we got a good man for President, make the changes Obama. It will mean getting off our butts and paying attention, writing other politicains, and demanding change ect. Obama wants to give government back to the people, that's the best news I have heard in a long time, but it means we the people have too take the responabilty. It means we have to think not just about what we want but what is right for everyone. Obama is a Dem, and I'm assuming alot of us are too, but we will have to put that aside and try and understand the Rep. side of things too.
President Barack Obama is just the first step. I personally don't think Obama can give us back our government, even in 8 years and with our support, he can get us going down the right path in that time. And I think he will do a good job of that, but this movement will have to last more then 8 years too make a real difference. We can do it but it will take continued work on our part. The good news is we have alot of young people in this movement, the one that comes to mind is a 14 year old young man that has done alot, he can't vote but is doing a grat job on the Grassroots Finance Committee. Now I doubt this young man is doing all this to just make Obama President and we can't either. So I hope your support for president Obama goes beyond '08.
Do you understand what we are getting into? Are you ready to continue this beyond '08? How far are we going to take this movement?
Hello Again,
I Well if you have read my other blog this is kinda the same thing.
All this talk about why Barack, heres why I am supporting Barack Obama, its simple really Government reform. Like I said I don't agree with all Barack has to say, imamgration is probebily the biggest issue I disagree with.
But when I hear what Barack says about Government reform, he gives me hope. Not hope that he can change our Government, I think Our Government is too much of a mess for any one person to change in 8 years. I feel our government has been bought by the rich, big business and special interst. But hope he can start the ball rolling in the right direction in giving this government back to all the people.
See I don't think there is a issue or problem, We The People can't solve. I'm talking rich and poor, Democrate and Republican (or like me Independent), conservative and libreal. We have a Great Nation, and we have the foundation of the greatest government in the world but We The People let it get away from us.
In my profile I have the lyrics to Monster by Steppenwolf, because to me they are so true, I feel our vote is almost a meaningless joke, I feel the government don't pay us any mind, but the key words are "'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy" I'm guilty!! I never paid attention, to politics, but this is our government. I watched a few sound bites heard a few things and voted for who I thought would be good, or the better of the two anyway. Now that changed about 10 years ago, I was complaining about all the above, when it occured to me, I have no room to talk. So I started paying attention, and I can proudily say I never voted for Bush either time LOL!!!
I'm sorry Democrates, this isn't a Democrate or Republican thing, I think both parties are messed up, but Barack talks about real change, not just from Republican. Now it might just be talk, and I might be a total fool but he has giving me hope, yes "The Audacity Of Hope"!
Well thanks for listening,
Jeff
Hello everyone, I was all for Obama in fact I was excited about him running. He is the first Presidental canadate I have ever contributed to. But I have to admit I have been watching him closely. And I'm starting to doubt if he isn't politics as usual, I really hope not!!! The Immigration thing really threw me, I can't beleive he voted for the ammensty bill, I can't beleive all the dems did. The dems complain about outsourcing american jobs, but whats the difference between sending the jobs over there or bringing them here to work, either way Americans are losing the jobs. I know the dems want the hispanic vote, but selling america for votes is just wrong. The American people were totally against this bill but politics played and Obama like everyone else voted for there party not the people.
A less serious thing is Health care, I really don't feel all americans need heath insurance, all americans need health care!!! I have insurance, but don't use it because my deductable and all the hiden cost are so high. Now I'm healthy, Obama talks about prevetive health care. Like I said I have insurance and haven't used it in years to me its a emergancy only thing because I can't afford the deductable unless I really need it. The last physical I had was when I broke my knee about 6 years ago, I had already paid the deductable so figured I might as well get checked out too.
I will still probebily vote for Obama, he still seems like the best canidate for change. But it still seems like politics as usual, I hope I'm wrong. I almost would like to see Obama run as a independent instead of a Democrate!!! Something will have to get me excited again before I contribute anymore money,
