Hillary never lets a day go by without reminding people that she, and only she, can fight the attacks of the right wing.
Well, after what should have been an after thought and little blurb of not much ado the story quickly blew up to be a major story. never mind that Mark Penn, Hillary's close advisor, has been found to be doing business with Blackwater. This was not on any of the major newscasts as it could embrass the media's annoited queen. Instead, they choose to cover that bit of controversy with a made up one about Obama not wearing a peice of jewelry.
headlines scream everywhere about this stupid story. Right wing Fox news, the radio polarizers and of course, the wingnut blogs are all pounding on Obama for not wearing a stupid pin. Wearing a flag pin, like sticking a Support the Troops bumpersticker on your car, is shallow symbolism. Especially when so many of the so called patriots could care less about the troops they say the support become vets returning home.
However, this could be good. Obama has an opportunity to kick sand in the face of the right wing. this will give a laugh to those who hear Hillary touting herself as the only one who can fight the right. And it builds people's comfort in knowing Obama is more than capable of handling himself in the face of the mean old right wing. It gives him creds with the democrats.
I know it sounds silly but, democrats seem to worry over the rightwing more than anything else. A person's ability to punch them back and look tough in the face of rightwing slurs seems to be more important to everyday democrats than anything else. and proving you can builds democrats support and feeling of security more than anything.
Seems this is what is worrying democrats almost more than anything about Obama. His ability to fight and stand up to the boogyman rightwing.
So, if Obama wants to score points, anyone who will see him tomorrow or the next day, or happens to work for the campaign, please tell him this. It may seem silly but, I am a member of many blogs and read alot of msm sites and this is something really important to the base.
So, Barack, throw them some red meat and prove you are tougher than Hillary and the right wing.
this is huge. Ben smith at Polico made the brave step today and published an expose on how the Clinton campaign is killing stories and controlling media.
As usual, hillary is employing threat tactics and her campaign has been extreemly nasty in controlling message.
Want to know why she is getting a free pass and why she is not being called on anything? Want to know why the stories are all Hillary all gushing.
I am posting a link and hope you read the full story.
I just read an important article a short while ago. the argument of the article is that anyone can do a slick campaign to blur the lines of Experience, change or eletability. But, when you have been around Washington, publicly, for 15 years and everything is known about you and both the right and left don't trust you, then it becomes a matter of trust.
Barack Obama is widely seen as the most honest and trustworthy of all the candidates running. Hillary Clinton is widely seen as the most dishonest person running.
While she can blur the lines of change and electability in arguing her point while exploiting her fake experience, the voters seem to be buying it. they are easily dazzled when Hillary takes Bill out of the closet, shakes off the cobwebs and trots him out for the masses. They are gullible enough to buy it hook, line and sinker.
However, when you bring up the issue of trust, there really is not much Hillary can do to bat that one away, or blur the lines or triangulate. Why doesn't she answer the hard questions, why all the problems with campaign bundlers, why all the pandering and not taking a stand on any issue? Trust comes into play.
You can tie trust to the other campaign themes she has stolen. What is this experience she keeps touting. Was she a co president and therefore may not be eligible to run, was she making policy? Why can't we see her papers as first lady? Something to hide? If she cannot show what she really did in the White House, then why trust someone who won't show and tell? Ect.
If Barack Obama incorporated the issue of trust, his strongest and her weakest point, and tie it with everything, you plant the seed of doubt on if you can really trust her to be president. We just are starting to wrap up the administration of a president who has lied, pretended, twisted, used, ect. Who took trust and like the constitution, spit on it.
But, given the clinton history, can you really trust Hillary?
I Just finished watching the students for obama video. At the end one young woman said that you guys could be the next greatest generation.
You better be. Mine was the one that screwed everything up and we need to not have another boomer with the same old thinking and problems just be more of the same.
I was thinking while watching the video that the polls are very much off. How many of you, the students, were able to vote in the last primaries and election? Most of you would say no.
the polls use the list of people who voted in the last presidential primaries. that is how they poll. Now me, I have never voted in a primary. the general I have. Not the primary. This is my first time and I am twice your age. How many reading this who are adults voted in the last primaries. very few.
we are a movement of people who are incredibly strong in numbers, plus all those people who are not active online who plan to vote for Obama. But, alot of us are first time primary voters and many are first time voters. We do not get polled. Students are on the go and have cell phones. And they are never polled.
So, it occurs to me that you are the same as the generation that put JFK in the White House. He won because of the youth vote. They came out in droves to vote for him. they were just as disengaged as ever and yet, when he ran, the kids were electrified and on fire.
Now we have a guy running against the establishment candidate. the establishment will try to do whatever they can to derail him, to undermine him and to get their guurrrlllll in office because it means pay back time. And it means nothing will change and nothing will threaten their nice little set up of cushy jobs doing nothing, pocketing the people's money and making sure the same sick system is kept untouched.
Many of them underestimate you. So many people say you will never turn out. Students volunteer but, they don't vote. I know one reason was you had to go home to vote. I have heard this is changing and you can vote where you go to school.
Besides, you came out at a rate of 47% last general election for a candidate who was nice enough but, hardly inspiring. I have alot of faith in you guys. I truly believe you will upset the pundits crowing of inevitability with Clinton, will upset the pollsters who give rise to that myth, and you will upset the establishment and business as usual crowd in Washington.
We have independents and Republicans who are supporting Barack. We have people who have not voted for along time or never, we have you. We are a strong and tough bunch. We know the dirty tricks, the election machines being tampered with, ect. and we will not let that happen in this primary.
I predict that you guys, the students, are the ones who will determine who is the nominee and you will come through for obama.
and, Barack Obama, is the only candidate who in a general election is predicted to walk to the white house in a landslide. And you will be the same as those students back in 1960 who had JFK's back.
because of this, You indeed will change the world.
Larry invited Bill Clinton to comment on the Obama factor in the Democratic race. Mr. Clinton said that Barack Obama has great appeal to the younger voters. President Clinton said that Barack was handsome, well spoken, and approachable. Bill then had a melancholy moment whereby he recalled with fondness and a smile when he had the same appeal. President Clinton added that this appeal and charisma that Barack Obama exudes was substantial and influential to the voters.
Bill Clinton on Larry King.
I have not watched or read about Bill Clinton's appearances on any of the talk shows this week. I have no desire to see Hillayr's husband go on about how she is the best candidate and all the blah blah, espeically since the media is doing such a good job of it for him on a daily basis.
I was looking for an article that was not all gushy about Hillary to post on Democratic Underground. There is a section where we can post opinions, articles, ect, like here, and it's is in sections. On the politics section, we have been infested with Hillary's flying monkeys and they are basically playing the game of what is being done on Hillaryis44. The build up is fine as we all do that for our candidates but, they are very arrogant and love to do anti Obama posts.
I am competitive. My answer is to post a bunch of pro Obama articles and do a few anti Hillary ones.
So, something looked interesting about Bill Clinton's appearance on Larry King. Clinton commenting on Obama. I did not think Bill Clinton would say anything snarky on the air about Obama but, I was curious so I clicked on the article. I searched it quickly for that part and when I read it, I was struck that Bill Clinton may know something Hillary is not willing to concede or face.
The generations have changed. Even with his big approval numbers by democrats, I think Bill knows the time is passing from the Clintons era to Obama's. One thing Clinton is , he is perceptive and sharp. He has probably seen Obama speaking from time to time. I have always gotten the sense that in Selma last spring, while Bill Clinton was suppose to be coming in later to meet up with his wife to march, I have always strongly felt he may have made arraingments to slip in quietly and stopped in the back of the church that Obama was speaking at to assess hillary's competition. I think he saw part of the speech that day and I think he knew things were not going to be easy. And that someone new is on the scene to claim the mantle of change, of a new era and the new politician of this new era.
He may have thought they, him and Hillary, were good for another go around. And he was probably right until a year ago. From August to the end of the year the talk of drafting Obama was very strong and we all signed the petitions. He knew obama was not just any politician. He knew that Obama was someone to take the mantle, be the figure of a new era and had that charisma and intelligence that went to FDR, John and Robert kennedy and even to him. And I don't think he was ready for that. But, he was the one in Hillary's campaign who knew what a major threat Obama was.
On Larry King, that meloncholy moment that was mentioned, I believe is a moment of knowing that if Hillary won, it was not going to be the 90s again or they could recapture the magic. he knows it will be a very rough presidency if Hillary gets it. He won't stop her because he feels he needs to make it up to her for all the years he put her through and it is what she wants the most. But, it won't be a good time. He also knows Obama is bigger threat than the media will allow. He knows obama is more clever and much more knowlegible than the media gives him credit for and he knows Obama is very capable of taking the nomination and winning a landslide in the general.
Clinton, I believe knows his and Hillary's time has come and gone and it is now Obama;s time.
Just my observations
And he just keeps on impressing people and drawing huge crowds.
hillary has brought hubby along once in awhile to try to draw the same kinds of crowds as Obama. She figures with Bill they can draw so much more than Obama does.
And, yet, with Bill in tow, she keeps drawing less.
During 4th of July they tried to outdraw what obama did in Iowa. they hoped to far out strip the 10,000 Obama got in Iowa City. She figures with bill it will be easy and she can feel she is inevitable. But, the most they drew was around 3,000.
so, today, with Bill in tow, she tried to do it again. Except Obama got a crowd of 1,500 and the Clintons together drew several hundred. Guess old Bill is losing his touch.
Or maybe, he is just being out done by someone who is better and more appealing and interesting than any politician around for generations.
While the pundits in Washington obsess on meaningless polls, they are completely divorced from the reality that it is feet on the ground that drives the elections.
They don't understand the grassroot networks Obama has or understand movements.
I think it's both.
If you are close to your television on labor day, around 1:00 pm est. cspan is carrying the manchester rally of Obama's
mark your calanders.
If you cannot see it, check Cspan on line and check out Monday's schedule as they will probably re air that evening. or later in the afternoon.
If you don't see much on the schedule recheck tomorrow.
I am sick and tired of the media's love affiar with billary and their agenda of trying to get them back in the white house so they have 4 years of gossipy things to cover.
especially when you see things like this and no one knows about it. No one knows.
people want to know who is experienced enough to lead.
follow this link and you will be shocked on how Obama is getting shortchanged by blogs and the msm because of their own agendas.
This is Obama's record on Katrina. And after you read it shout it from the rooftops.
well, sort of.
In october London is seeing an Obama fundraiser with Michelle as the guest of honor.
I think Michelle should have her husband do a video for them so, those in London can see what all the fuss is about and spark a European excitement. right now, they only really know Hillary from her years as first lady. And with all the interest in our upcoming elections, if obama has a video and Michelle there, and with the star power of both Obamas, Europe will go just as crazy as America.
Could even begin a reverse beatlemania thing.....
interesting thought.
From the South Bend Tribune in Indiana, the writer gives voice to what we know and hope the rest of the country eventually figures out between now and January.
I am posting the commentary here and see what the writer said.
I include the name of the writer with the article
JUSTIN TRESNOWSKI In last month's Democratic CNN/YouTube debate, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., distinguished himself from his fellow presidential hopefuls and stood out as a different kind of Democratic candidate. Doing so in a presidential primary debate can be difficult, especially when each candidate receives a minute or less to produce a sound-bite answer. But while each candidate lamented the ongoing war in Iraq and the failures of the American health care system, Obama showed why many in the country think the Illinois senator is a unique politician who can bring real change to Washington.Throughout the debate, Obama derided the disproportionate influence lobbyists and special interest groups have on policy decisions, and he insisted that politicians should respond to the needs and concerns of the American people instead of wealthy individuals and corporations. According to Obama, these public concerns include bringing American troops home from an Iraq war he opposed from its beginning, providing all Americans access to health care and ending American dependence on foreign oil. As Obama noted, however, most of his fellow candidates have strong proposals to deal with these problems and others have had similar proposals in the past, but partisan bickering and the influence of outside groups impeded actual change.Obama was quick to point out that simply electing a Democrat will not change the country's politics, and many viewers began realizing that Obama was not calling for a lighter version of the "politics as usual" seen in the past six years. Additionally, Obama's remarks on foreign policy showed that his lack of time spent in Washington might actually bring a fresh approach to the way America conducts its affairs abroad.
I found this on line at Daily Kos and Politico. A strange story is developing that involves the clintons and the Edwards camp. As far as it so far goes I do hope the Obama camp is taking some precautions.
I will post the link and then I am posting the comment by the Kos Diarist who responded about this story on Politico.
I find it kiind of weird and laughed because if they can connect the guy directly to clinton and is acting on her campaigns say so, she will have some explaining to do. lol.
Seems Hillary is up to her ususal sleazy stuff.
I wonder if Hillary ever comes out of the muck? what do you think?
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/8/29/143846/586
this is the diarists response on Politico who picked up the story:
while reading the comments on another blog someone posted a link to a list of celebrity endorsements for Obama.
I looked and came across a statement by Ethel Kennedy, widow of the late Senator Robert Kennedy.
It was really sweet so I posted it on this blog I go to, Democratic Underground.
I just thought I would put a smile on some people's faces and maybe po a couple of hillary supporters in the bargain.
Well, the posting kept being up on the board which was weird as I expected it to go a couple rounds and fall off. it never did. So I checked the comments because for it to stay up like that there had to be alot of comments.
People were stunned by it. many of Obama's supporters felt touched. But, along the way, some poeple did a double take on Obama. they said they were going to have to take another look because Ethel Kennedy saying this was something to stop them and make them think there must be more to Obama than they thought.
A few said they would have to take this seriously coming from Ethel Kennedy.
The actual statement is several months old but, it still makes quite an impact. I would love for this statement to make it to the desks of all the talking heads and pundits who poo poo Obama as a serious candidate and brilliant mind. It is such a pity this is not something they would see or take notice of. But, we all can just amaze to these words and know, what Ethel Kennedy does, that Obama is someone very special.
Yesterday in the comments someone posted a link to a poll being conducted world wide. I could not click on it. but, today on Democratic Underground someone posted the link and said to look who the world would vote for for our president.
When you go online you get the poll so you can vote and on the left side is the results of the countries and the votes.
If the world could vote today and the people who have voted for the US, our next president would be, hands down, Barack Obama.
Seems like the world is not only curious and interested in our primaries and election for who will replace the hated Bush but, feel we should have Obama for president.
Even Canada feels our next president should be Obama.
All I can say is: Gobama!
now go vote for obama

the above link is to a wonderful article about Obama's work as a community organizer and how much it influenced and shaped him.
I know we already know it was his defining moment and made that big of an impact on him, but, it is nice to read about.
You see how an early experience can affect someone so much as to change their life and the path they are on.
I think his experience made him the effective leader this country is crying out for but, we need to make sure the average voter out there knows this. Right?
I met this really nice person on the blog I go to. This person is new and I thought to say welcome.
The person worked at the University of chicago about 10 years ago and knew this guy who was a lecturer of Constitutional law. Tall, skinny guy with a funny name. He visited the classroom a couple times to listen to the lectures after hearing co workers talk about a guy who was a dazzling speaker and passionate about the constitution.
I asked if he would write a post for people, supporter or not, to see the kind of real person under the image was like. I thought with so much negative vibes floating around right now with flame posts it would be something positive and just nice to read. sort of like those I knew them when kind of thing. We are all curious about the real person and what they are really like. Not for gossip but, just to know what a person is like.
I thought this would bring a smile to people here and warm your hearts.
So, with permission, I am posting part of here. The part about Obama.
In 1860 our country was splitting apart. More polarized than even now. Brother against brother. Father against son. We were looking at becoming two countries. One in which slavery would be allow to exist forever.
A tall and lanky man, a one term US congressman and obscure legislator from Springfield, Illinois, stepped into the race for president. On top of questions of experience, he also belonged to a new party that was not well known and untried, just like the man.
The times called for experience and a know quantity. It also called for just the right man to be elected in order to save the union and ease the tensions.
the American people picked this unknown quantity. Somehow the people picked just the right man for the time.
In 1932 in the depth of a crushing depression with millions out of work and out of luck, Hoover felt the best way to handle this crisis was to ignore them and let people fend for themselves. Pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
In the race for the presidency a man in the democratic party was running who spent the better part of the 1920s battling polio and making his legs work again. he managed to get to where he could walk haltingly in heavy irons strapped to his legs.
Seen as a charismatic man who lacked real substance, now there would be questions of electibility. Could a man who could not walk be electable? The country needed someone who could work many hours a day and with great intellect. And then, there was this thinking that was not of the Old Order. Challenging it with calls for a new order and new thinking.
The American people again knew the man was a brilliant thinker who could heal a country in so much pain. Someone who would try new ideas and change the status quo of failed policies and thinking.
The people chose right again in crisis when they picked the man who would lead us out of the depression, install new and vital programs and needed lifelines and then lead us through a world war.
In 1960, America was in the golden years. Alot of it put in place by an earlier president who embraced new ideas. And his last vp who installed many that helped vets back into society with the GI Bill. But, not all was golden. We faced a cold war. And we were suspicious of those who did not act like everybody else. We just came out of the Witch hunts of McCarthy not too long ago. And now our neighbor to the south became communist and threatening.
A democratic candidate who oozed with charisma and brilliance was running. However, he did not have much experience. A one term senator. And catholic. he was totally unelectable. And he was running against a more experience, establishment candidate with the party's backing.
and again the American people knew. They knew he was the right man for the times. That he would bring us camelot. And because of the wisdom of the people over the polls and establishment and the nay sayers we embarked on our greatest aventure. To the moon. And we saw a new voting block emerge. Young people. It was the youth of America that made the difference with their votes.
Now America faces another time when we are looking into the abyss. We are in a dangerous place that calls for experience and conventional wisdom. We are in a new cold war and face an uncertain economy, maybe the onset of new depression. Our roads and bridges are falling apart. one of our great american cities lays in waste and destruction and neglect from a president who will not do as he is suppose to. Our jobs are gone and leaving. All the products that use to be made in America are now either dangerous or poisoning us because they are now made elsewhere without oversight.
We are in a very scary time.
Will the American people be wise again and see that the right man for the time has been presented to us again in disguise. Will the people see him? Will they again know the one who is 'inexperienced', not the establishement's candidate, a one term US Senator, who is seen with questions of if he is electable. Someone said to be too green and no substance. Will the people again know the tall lanky man from Springfield, Illinois with the brilliant mind and new ideas who bucks the conventional wisdom and brings change from the failures of the past 20 years?
We need the American people to see the candidate in disguised and be wise again.
I wonder if this is legal in presidential campaigning.
It is very important that those who live in California be aware of what Hillary and her hillarybots are up to.
I Hope those of you guys in California can do a coutner atttack and take down Hillary's little scheme.
Please click on the link and read about it.
Barack Obama is coming to Brooklyn.
I just read an article about how a group of young activists got together in their support for Barack Obama and generated a movement in the heart of Hillary Clinton territory.
They came together and held many fund drives, ect for their guy. and kept hoping to get obama to come and see them.
It seems he heard them and took note. So, they are having a fundraising rally in Brooklyn.
This writer said there is so much support for Obama that
On Wednesday, 22nd August, 2007, Barack Obama comes to the Brooklyn Marriott for a $25 per person grassroots fundraiser. Tickets are now selling like crack was during the nineteen-eighties. Tickets for this event are the hottest tickets in town right now.
If anyone in that group is reading this: Way to go.
How fun that you guys have become so effective and are now reaping some rewards.
