In the beginning they said we couldn't win. He said "Yes we can", and we did.
In two days, Barack Obama will become the 44th president of the United States, and we all had a part in making that happen.
He is now calling on us to continue our efforts and respond to his call to service. I hope that we will continue to do our best to make him proud, as he will be doing his best to make us proud.
We will also need to do our part in calming down the expectations. President Elect Obama has continuously told us that getting this country back on track will take a long time. Did we hear him? Do we expect him to get in there and wave a magic wand? There is no magic wand. It will take a lot of work by a lot of people for a long time. Let's be realistic about our expectations. I trust his judgement and have all the faith and hope in the world, but I know it will be some time before things get better, and things may get a lot worse before they get better.
I know that the Galloway group was not very active, as most of us were involved with other groups in the greater Columbus area. As we get back to our busy lives, I hope to continue to use this group as a form of communication for us to schedule events to help our local community here on the West Side. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks!
Amy Rock
I can't believe the convention is here! It seems like it was just yesterday that we held the Ohio Primary, and a week or two ago that Senator Obama announced his candidacy.
I am so grateful to all of you who have volunteered your time and energy. I was very active from the beginning to the Primary, but have been MIA since the primary. I miss everybody! I was able to volunteer at the Jazz & Rib Fest and hope to participate more before the election, which will be here before we know it.
You guys ROCK!!

OMG! OMG! OMG! This night is so exciting! Yes, the NC win is fabulous - SO MANY delegates!!!
AND it still looks like it's possible for him to win Indiana! Even with Rush Limbaughs republicans coming in to vote for Clinton! The independents voting for Obama have outnumbered them! WOOHOOOOOOOO
I wish I would have gone to the Primary Party tonight to be with all you awesome people! I know I've not been around since the Ohio Primary, but I'm still with you in spirit!
Bless all of you who have continued such strong efforts to get Senator Obama elected.
YOU ALL ROCK!
Well, Ive been out of the loop since the Ohio Primary. I'd like to say I'm ready to jump back in, but I'll start with baby steps and see how it goes.
I was looking at a delegate calculator on CNN.com that actually looked pretty good. Clinton would need 65% of all remaining votes to win the primary. Our Senator Obama only needs 45%. I think we can manage that!! YES WE CAN!!
So let's getting moving on Indiana! Go Hoosiers!
Tuesday was a dissapointment. I was SO hoping we would take Ohio, but it was not meant to be. A co-worker told me that his uncle asked him to vote for Clinton, as he and all of his republican friends were doing. They figured that since McCain had it wrapped up, the wanted to help Clinton get the democratic nomination, because they can beat her, but they can't beat Obama. My republican Aunt & Uncle, however, voted for Obama because they are not confident that McCain can beat either candidate and they don't want Hillary to have any kind of chance becoming president.
So what would Ohio have looked like without the non-Obama supporting Republicans (not our Obamacans)? I have no idea, and I guess we will never no. Interesting process... isn't it? No wonder I never got involved in politics before now. This is some f*&#(ed up s*&t.
Onward and upward - to the Whitehouse we go!
What a busy weekend in Columbus. Breakfast & march to vote this morning - I didnt make it but I would expect it went well. Canvassing and phone banking all over the city, with people who came in from all over the country. Womens rally. Table at the Gallery Hop. There is no excuse for anybody who wants to get involved to not be able to find something to do to contribute to this campaign! I am in awe of where we are now, compared to a year ago. I knew that as people got to know the Senator that he would do well. You volunteers have done an amazing job of introducing him to your friends, families and neighbors. Grass Roots ROCKS!
Yes, we can take back our government. We have the candidate, we have the support, we have us.
OMG OMG OMG!! He's coming to Columbus this wednesda! I am so excited and so pumped! He was awesome when he was here in the fall. I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't sleep! How am I going to work tomorrow and tuesday? AAAAAAAAAAAEIIIIIIii
He's coming!!!

I stopped down at Obama Headquarters downtown Columbus today. I was on my lunch hour and dropped off some muffins. That place is Crazy Busy! It was awesome. I can't believe all the awesome staff and volunteers that we have! Lots of people coming down to get yard signs and buttons! Lots of phone calls, lots of traffice, lots of everything!
I am so excited. Ohio. YES WE CAN!
And GO TEAMSTERS!! You guys, and gals, ROCK!!
Fabulous wins in Wisconsin and Hawaii! Our margins are awesome! A lot of the talk I've heard now is, of course, about how important Texas and Ohio will be, which we already knew. There was also talk that Ohio will be harder for Senator Obama than Texas. I don't think they know about our super staff and super volunteers! We have such an amazing team willing to contribute so much time. It will be a lot of work, but WE CAN and WE WILL!
Ohio for Obama!
Let's make History!
Let's change the world!
Fidel Castro has stepped down. Raul Castro has stepped up. Raul is open to dialogue with the United States. Bush won't talk to him. Clinton won't talk to him. Who can step up, open dialogue, work out differences and improve relations with Cuba and help make life better for Cubans in Cuba and those in the United States? Barack Obama

Obama '08
Wow. A year ago we were just getting started. The two weeks (I think) that it took to get this website up after Senator Obama announced his candidacy seemed an eternity. Then we were all meeting in Gahanna, Hilliard and Columbus planning our activities for the next year.
Well, here we are, a year later. We've stood on corners with our signs and waved all over the city, we've braved the cold for table events downtown and at the short north, braved the heat from Comfest to Hot Times to the short north. We ran all over town passing out fliers on Baracks fall appearance, cuz we couldn't get any press. We partied at our Happy Hours at the Buckeye cafe, and made lots of new friends. We had a 5K run, lots of house parties and debate parties, and parties with the Mayor and his crew. We got the petitions signed to put Barack on the ball
I can't believe that Super Teusday has already passed and it's only a matter of weeks before the Ohio primary. I'm tired. :) I'm sure glad that our numbers have increased, we have campaign staff in town, out-of-state volunteers, an supporters all over the country phonebanking with us.
I want to say to the following people who have been working so hard all - YOU ROCK! (especially Valli & Gita & Jill & Michelle & Diane & Carter & Fulch & Kelan & Nora & Candace & Jessica & Kevin & Danni & Tracey & Christina & Stephanie & Dan & Justin & Rashaad & TaLisa & Shiela & Claudia & Carole & Huyan & Rich & Mark & Faye & Lanni & Jeffry & Tim & Vangie & David & Tom & Anne & Mary Ann & EVERYBODY)
I can't get out of work and am so envious of those of you who get to go.
Come on Columbus, let's show Michelle some love!

Well, for anybody that was there - can you believe how many people were there?!!! OMG it was wonderful! I was hoping to meet some of my new online friends, but it was standing room only and there was no way to even try to find people!
You might have seen me outside directing cars to where to park! Jill and I just about froze our toes off. The parking lot, including the huge one in the back of the buidling was completely full and people parked across the street and next door.
Kevin Boyce spoke at the end! He had just gotten out of the hospital and wasn't going to come, but decided it was too important to miss. Bless you Kevin!
It was completely awesome to see such a HUGE turnout! People were signing up for eveything - housing volunteers, feeding the volunteers, canvassing, phonebanking. I'm so excited I can't stand it! Channel 6 news was there - we'll see if they run a story.
